SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 10-year-old boy who survived a night alone in the remote eastern Utah backcountry says he remembered the skills his father taught him and curled up between rocks still warm from the sun to survive the cold mountain night. Malachi Bradley says that he was determined to get back to his family.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Members of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission say they're not ready to give a brandy distillery special permission to sell mini-bottles of liquor. Commission members say state lawmakers should step in and clarify Utah's complex alcohol-sampling laws.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz says he wants to turn Utah's Dinosaur National Monument to a national park. He told the editorial boards at The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News that the plan would add protections for nearly 4 million acres of land in eastern Utah in exchange for freeing up 365,000 acres land for oil and gas development.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Colorado man was killed in eastern Utah when strong winds dragged him off a cliff as he prepared to take off in a hang-glider. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office says 50-year-old Craig Pirazzi died yesterday east of Canyonlands National Park near Moab. He fell about 300 feet.
