West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies and the E-Center announced today during a press conference that they will proudly host an NHL preseason game between the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks Sunday, October 5 at the E-Center at 7:05 p.m.

"The Grizzlies have gathered a great deal of momentum both in the community and on the ice as we enter our fourth ECHL season," said Grizzlies CEO Kevin Bruder. "We are very excited to host NHL hockey in the E-Center and feel it will be a great beginning to another year of Grizzlies hockey."

The E-Center previously hosted the Kings and Sharks in its only other NHL game on October 3, 1998. The final score was Los Angeles 2 San Jose 1 in overtime.

"This will be a great event for the hockey community and the state of Utah," said Grizzlies Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie who returns for his fourth season at the helm of the Grizzlies along with Assistant Coach Kevin Colley in 2008-2009. "This will be the final preseason game for both teams and fans will be treated to a great display of hockey."

Tickets for the game will go on sale to the general public on August 1. However, current Grizzlies ticket plan holders can buy their tickets for the game immediately through their account representative. In addition, fans who purchase a Grizzlies ticket package for the 2008-2009 season starting at $90, will also have the ability to lock in their tickets to the Kings/Sharks game before they go on sale to the general public. Fans can purchase Grizzlies ticket packages by calling (801) 988-PUCK or visiting the team's corporate offices in the E-Center.

The Grizzlies, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, open the 2008-2009 season Saturday, October 18 in Idaho. The home opening weekend for Utah is Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25 versus Alaska.
