PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh opens a home series against San Francisco tonight in a battle of NL wildcard contenders. The Pirates are 57-31 since May 9, the best record in the majors. That's put them in control of one of the wildcard spots. San Francisco goes into tonight's play, three games back of the Cubs in the wildcard race and two behind the Dodgers for first in the NL West.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Cubs look to Jake Arrieta to continue his recent roll when he takes the mound for the start of a home series against Atlanta tonight. The 14-6 right-hander will try to become the majors' first 15-game winner. He's 8-1 in his last 11 starts.

BOSTON (AP) — AL Central-leading Kansas City heads to Fenway Park riding a five-game winning streak to open a series against the Red Sox tonight. Chris Archer is scheduled to start for the Royals. The left-hander is just 6-5 this season, but the Royals have gone 8-2 in his 10 starts since coming off the disabled list.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) —Tiger Woods is playing in the Wyndham Championship for the first time in an effort to make a steep climb into the FedEx Cup playoff picture. Woods is ranked 187th in the standings, and needs to crack the top 125 in order to qualify for next week's The Barclays playoff opener. Woods could get there with a win, or possibly a solo second-place finish.

COLQUITLAM, British Columbia (AP) — Canada teen sensation Brooke Henderson will be in the spotlight at the Canadian Open that begins today. The 17-year-old is coming off a win at the Cambia Portland Classic last week. That prompted the LPGA Tour to waive its 18-year-old age requirement and make her a full member of the tour.
