TRINITY, Fla. (AP) — Seven years after the real estate bust in the U.S., many people who lost their homes have rebuilt their credit and are jumping back into the market. Called "boomerang buyers," experts say this group will be an important part of the real estate market in the coming years. In markets like Las Vegas as many as one-quarter of homes could be bought by boomerang buyers.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — MGM Resorts says it finished the first phase of expansion at its Mandalay Bay convention center that added another 350,000 square-feet of space to the venue. The casino company said yesterday that when the entire expansion is finished in January the convention center will have more than 2 million square feet of space.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The U.S. Honor Flag has arrived for a funeral in Reno to be presented to the family of a 30-year-old Carson City deputy who was killed last weekend in a shootout responding to a domestic violence call. Deputy Carl Howell's funeral procession is scheduled pass the Capital in Carson City shortly after 9 a.m. today headed for the 11 a.m. service at the downtown Reno Events Center. Howell left behind a wife and four kids.

PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Charges were added and bail was increased to $50,000 for a Nevada woman accused of taking her children with her to abduct and kill a neighbor's dog in Pahrump. A judge yesterday appointed a lawyer for Maria Furtado and set an Aug. 26 court appearance and Sept. 2 preliminary hearing. Investigators believe Furtado was retaliating after the puppy killed her pet ducklings.
