CEDAR CITY — Three men were arrested Monday on suspicion of attempting to rob a couple and then firing a gun in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Investigators were able to identify the men after receiving numerous tips from the public following the incident, which occurred Thursday. Police said a man entered the back seat of the couple's car at about 6:20 p.m. while they were in the parking lot, located at 1330 S. Providence Center Dr., and he demanded money while displaying a handgun.

The alleged robber initially fled in a passenger car when the couple exited their vehicle and called for help, but returned a short time later, according to police. They said someone in the car fired at least one shot at the couple's vehicle.

"Initially the victims told investigators they did not know the suspects," a statement from the Cedar City Police Department reads. "During the course of the investigation, however, it was found that they had arranged to meet at Wal-Mart previous to this incident occurring."

Police said they arrested 18-year-old Davion Fletcher, 21-year-old Bryant Lewis and 18-year-old Ivan Favlia in connection to the incident at about 9 a.m. Monday after locating them in a car matching the description given for the shooting. They were all booked into the Iron County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm in the direction of a person and theft of a firearm.
