Mary Richards reportingCreative cheaters have caused an issue for some TRAX riders in Sandy.

You know those tokens you can use at the arcade? Turns out some Utah Transit Authority (UTA) ticket vending machines accept them too.

Fraudsters figured it out. "They would put them in the machine and get the tickets out, and then sell them," said UTA spokeswoman Carrie Bohnsack-Ware.

Bohnsack-Ware says it was happening most in Sandy, so now the machines at 9400 South and 9000 South no longer take tokens.

"If we see anything at any of the other stations, then we'll probably end up having to get rid of tokens altogether. But we just don't want to do that. That's a last resort," she said.

Bohnsack-Ware says some area businesses bought some tokens in bulk to give to their employees. They are working with them to exchange them now for daily or monthly passes.
