(KSL News) Police believe they've caught up with a repeat cash register thief.

Police say a man walked into the Magic Wok restaurant on 3770 W. 5400 South in Taylorsville yesterday afternoon, went to the main counter and took the cash register.

He ran out but dropped the register and tried to carjack a woman's car. She drove off, but he convinced another man to give him a ride.

Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies eventually spotted that car and arrested the suspected thief.

Officials believe he's the same man who stole a cash register from the Panda Buffet in Salt Lake earlier this week.
