Wild horse shot, killed near Delta, Utah

DELTA, Utah (AP) — Bureau of Land Management officials are investigating after a wild horse was found dead from a gunshot wound near Delta.

Officials say a 14-year-old palomino stud was found near the Middle Pond in the Swasey Herd Management Area. It was shot and killed with a small-caliber gun.

Capturing, harassing or killing wild horses is illegal under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. Violations are punishable by a fine of up to $2,000, a year in prison or both

The Cedar City National Mustang Association is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the people involved in the shooting.
