Sandra Yi ReportingThe woman accused of trying to run down her estranged husband with her SUV appeared in court today.
Brenda White was arrested in April, after she drove her SUV through a building. Today she was at the courthouse for a roll call hearing, but didn't appear before the judge. She will be back here in August.
This afternoon, White silently walked in to the courtroom, but then left a few minutes later with her attorney. White is charged with attempted murder and criminal mischief.
The charges stem from an incident in April, when White went to her estranged husband's work. Court documents say she threatened him. Surveillance video then caught White driving into the building and hitting Jon White with her Explorer.
White is out on bail.
Her estranged husband's family was in court today. They didn't want to talk on camera, but released this statement:
"The wheels turn slowly. Brenda continues to try and hurt Jon by refusing to proceed with the divorce or settle the disposition of community property."
They want this case to move forward. They were pleased to learn the judge set a preliminary hearing today. That's when a judge will decide if there's enough evidence for White to stand trial. That's been scheduled for August 10th.
