ST. GEORGE — A group of World War II veterans got a big welcome home in St. George Saturday night when they returned from their visit to Washington, D.C.
The group was part of the latest Utah Honor Flight, and the trip served veterans from southern Utah.
Many of the men and women who went to Washington are in their 90s. Despite a long three days, they said it was a trip they waited for their entire lives. They couldn’t have been more thrilled by their homecoming reception.
“It’s almost worth going through war just to come and have this kind of (welcome),” one Honor Flight veterans said.
A similar celebration was held in Cedar City.
More Honor Flights are scheduled for the upcoming fall. If you’d like to help a WWII veteran sign up, there’s more information at UtahHonorFlight.org.
