SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Attorney General Sean Reyes accepted a $5,000 campaign donation from a Utah-based 1-800-Contacts after his office began defending a new law that critics say was written at the company's behest. Reyes says the donation has no bearing on work at the attorney general's office, and Reyes has a duty to defend the law.
SANDY, Utah (AP) — Police have identified two teenagers who died in a two-vehicle collision in Sandy yesterday. Sandy Police say 17-year-old Hunter Kelson and 16-year-old Cheyenne Bagley died at the scene. A third teen in the car had minor injuries. The occupants of the other vehicle were uninjured.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The family of a defendant fatally shot during a federal court trial in Salt Lake City says officials have let them see courtroom videos of the incident. The U.S. District Court in Utah initially declined to show the family video of the April 21, 2014 shooting of Siale Angilau for security reasons but recently relented.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's population growth rate is one of the highest in the nation, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. The Deseret News reports that census data shows that the state's population grew by more than 40,000 people, or nearly 1.4 percent, from July 2013 to July 2014.
