SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state lawmaker says Utah needs to set standards for the use of body cameras by police so officers know when they should turn the devices on, who they should film and how long they should keep the video. Rep. Daniel McCay, R-Riverton, sponsored a bill earlier this year that would have addressed many of those issues but it died during the Legislative session.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Beaver County sheriff is the subject of a lawsuit filed by a former deputy who says he was fired for reporting that his boss choked a suspect. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Beaver County and Sheriff Cameron Noel were already defendants in a lawsuit filed by Timothy Wilson, the man who says Noel assaulted him. Cody Allen testified about the choking allegations in front of Utah's Peace Officer Standards and Training regulators. He was fired several months later for being drunk at a Halloween party and threatening a co-worker.

The Deseret News reports that the block contains a 16-foot-long adult Utahraptor and four juveniles and a 3-foot-long hatchling of the same species.
