TORONTO (AP) — Angels outfielder Matt Joyce was scratched from the lineup for Monday afternoon's game against Toronto after arriving late to the ballpark, incorrectly thinking Los Angeles was scheduled for a night game.

The game was in the daytime because if was on Victoria Day, first celebrated in 1845 in honor of Queen Victoria's birthday.

Joyce, who' is batting .152 with one homer and 10 RBIs, was fined for his late arrival. He returned to the starting lineup Tuesday and was batting sixth.

Joyce did get some good news Tuesday when Major League Baseball changed a May 16 error against Baltimore's Manny Machado to a hit for Joyce, just his third in the past 20 at-bats.
