VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A former school security worker has been sentenced to 60 days in jail for having sex with a student.

Media outlets report that 25-year-old Patience Justine Perez of Norfolk was sentenced on Monday in Virginia Beach Circuit Court. She had pleaded guilty in March 2014 to taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Perez formerly was employed as a school security assistant at Renaissance Academy, a public alternative school in Virginia Beach. She was fired in March 2013.

Perez was charged with having sex with a 15-year-old male student at her home and at the boy's home in Virginia Beach.
