SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert says Utah will join three other states in a lawsuit challenging new rules for oil and gas drilling on federal land. The Obama administration announced in March that it will require companies that drill on federal lands to disclose the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing. Herbert says Utah will join in the lawsuit because the rules unlawfully interfere with state regulations that address the process.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal water managers are projecting Lake Mead will drop to levels in January 2017 that could force supply cuts to Arizona and Nevada. Arizona's water allocation could be cut 11.4 percent and Nevada's by about 4.3 percent. A U.S. Bureau of Reclamation report predicts water levels will be just 2 feet above a trigger point next January on the Colorado River reservoir supplying much of the Southwest's drinking water.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A California man is pleading guilty to money laundering and wire fraud in connection with accusations he bilked investors out of millions in his sports drink company. The U.S. Attorney's Office says 52-year-old Randy Olshen took a plea deal in federal court in Utah that calls for 4.5 years in prison. Several charges were dismissed in exchange for his guilty pleas.

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — State wildlife officials tranquilized a bear that had been roaming through neighborhoods in the Park City area. KSL-TV reports that officials with the Utah Division of Natural Resources found the bear yesterday after a five-hour search. They plan to relocate the bear to an undisclosed location.
