WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue University's trustees have approved freezing tuition for a fourth straight year, but the board's chairman says it's unclear how much longer that freeze will last.
The trustees endorsed student fee rates for the next two academic years Friday, holding the line on student housing and meal plan costs in 2015-16 and freezing tuition through 2016-17.
The 2016-2017 school year will mark the fourth straight year Purdue has frozen tuition, which has cost $10,002 for in-state students and $28,804 for out-of-state students since 2012-13.
Board Chairman Tom Spurgeon tells the Journal & Courier (http://on.jconline.com/1d3sDr8 ) it's the trustees' goal to implement similar freezes every year. But he says how long that can last remains to be seen.
The freeze needs final approval May 27 from the trustees' executive committee.
