BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho officials say rodent poison caused some of the 2,000 deaths of migrating snow geese in eastern Idaho found back in March. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game said yesterday that a handful of the 24 birds sampled in a state lab died by zinc phosphide, commonly found in rodenticides used to farm crops.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — It took roughly 30 people from three agencies to rescue a woman whose parachute got snagged while jumping from the bridge over Snake River Canyon this week. But it's hardly the first incident that has required an emergency response to help BASE jumpers. The Twin Falls County sheriff's office says the financial burden for rescues and recoveries from the bridge doesn't fall on the taxpayers. Officials said BASE jumping drives tourism dollars and visitors to the city.
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana wildlife officials are considering stricter regulations to prevent Canada lynx from being caught in traps set for other animals outside Glacier and Yellowstone national parks. Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials presented the plan to the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission on Thursday. It is part of a settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed by three environmental groups in 2013 over trapping in the threatened species' habitat.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is inviting all anglers, novice to veteran, to cast their line in Idaho without a license on June 13. The agency is particularly encouraging parents to bring their children out for Free Fishing Day, perhaps sparking an early interest in fishing.
