BALTIMORE (AP) — Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah has arrived at Pimlico Race Course, site of Saturday's Preakness.
American Pharoah shipped from Kentucky by plane Wednesday and was taken by van from BWI Airport. After arriving at the track, the bay colt was ushered to the stakes barn with Dortmund, trainer Bob Baffert's other entrant.
Instead of putting American Pharoah in Stall 40 — the traditional home of the Derby winner — Baffert chose to put his horses next to each other in Stalls 29 and 30.
Baffert says it's too noisy around Stall 40.
American Pharoah on Saturday will attempt to keep alive his bid to become horse racing's first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
Eight horses will run in the Preakness, the smallest field since 2000.
