PHOENIX (AP) — A 41-year-old Phoenix man accused of leaving his toddler son in a hot car while he went drinking has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the boy's April 20 death.

James Koryor appeared Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court, entering his plea to charges of manslaughter and child abuse.

According to police, Koryor went to a liquor store with his 2-year-old, bought a bottle of gin, drank it on the way home and fell asleep inside his house.

The child was left behind in the car and later died.
