SPANISH FORK CANYON, Utah (AP) — Brief travel delays were caused on U.S. 6 after a tractor-trailer carrying 44,000 pounds of potatoes overturned in Spanish Fork Canyon. The Herald Journal reports UHP officers say the driver of the truck out of Idaho took a curve too fast yesterday while traveling east in the Red Narrows area of the canyon.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a woman found dead inside a vehicle submerged upside down in the Jordan River. Deseret News reports that Salt Lake Police say the small, white SUV was discovered later yesterday afternoon in a place not near a roadway. Police say it appears that the vehicle was probably driving on the railroad tracks when it fell off the bridge into the river.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — New state data show that raising the speed limit to 70 mph on most urban interstates along Utah's Wasatch Front hasn't led to a major increase in average speed by motorists as some feared it would. Utah officials said last week that's because most highway motorists in the state's urban core drove about 70 mph or faster when the speed limit was 65, and their speed stayed about the same when the legal speed went up in December.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Sheriff's deputies and the Utah National Guard are resuming the search for old munitions at a site in southwest Utah that was used as an ordnance training range a half-century ago. The St. George Spectrum reports a private environmental restoration firm is coordinating today's search. No evacuations are planned in the area north of St. George near Winchester Hills.
