DALLAS (AP) — A fire official in North Texas says there is "significant damage" to "multiple homes" and an unknown number of injuries after severe weather hit the small city of Van. The National Weather Service received a report of a tornado near Van, as severe thunderstorms passed through Van Zandt County on Sunday night. Van is about 30 miles northwest of Tyler.

UNDATED (AP) — A strong storm system continues to wreak havoc across a number of states. A likely tornado caused limited damage near the North Texas town of Denton on Sunday. Meanwhile, residents of Delmont, South Dakota, were asked to leave after a tornado hit the small town southwest of Sioux Falls. It damaged some 20 buildings and injured nine people. Utilities were knocked out.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey authorities say one person is dead and at least three are wounded after a shooting that followed an annual Mother's Day motorcycle blessing event in Newark. Gunfire erupted Sunday evening in the city's South Ward after the Blessing of the Bikes, an event sponsored by the Newark Knights motorcycle club to mark the beginning of the riding season.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Retired U.S. Special Forces soldier Layne Morris is criticizing a Canadian judge's decision to allow the release of former Guantanamo Bay inmate Omar Khadr on bail. Khadr was convicted of throwing a grenade when he was 15 years old that killed a U.S. Army sergeant during a firefight in Afghanistan. Morris, who was wounded in the skirmish, says Khadr's release is a cause for concern.

RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Morocco's armed forces say one of its F-16 fighter jets taking part in the Saudi-led Sunni coalition air strikes against the Shiite Houthi (HOO'-thee) rebels in Yemen is missing. The pilot of a second jet says he didn't see the pilot of the missing jet eject. An investigation is under way. Morocco has six F-16 jets stationed in the United Arab Emirates.
