PROVO, Utah (AP) -- The award-winning American Fork high school band has reached a truce with the school's neighbors who complained about noisy practices.
Negotiations kicked into gear last week, after complaints drew police with noise meters to the neighborhood.
Band director John Miller says the meters showed the noise level was no louder than a restaurant. He says the school has tried for 20 years to accommodate neighborhood complaints.
For now, the band will try moving its practice area from the east side of the football field to the north.
Neighbor Amber Walsh, who filed a police complaint, says she thinks that will solve the problem.
American Fork's band has topped state competitions for the past sixteen years. In 1996 the band represented Utah in California's Rose Parade and in 2005, played at the second inauguration of President Bush.
