OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Communities in several southern Plains states are cleaning up after storms that spawned 51 tornadoes. The storms strafed northern Texas, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. One person was killed and at least a dozen others injured in the Oklahoma City area. Storms that could produce more tornadoes could sweep across the Plains tomorrow and Saturday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Elton Simpson of Phoenix was under investigation for extremist activities and FBI Director James Comey says agents learned several hours before a provocative cartoon contest in suburban Dallas that he might show up and alerted local authorities. But Comey says there was no indication he planned an attack. Simpson and his roommate were shot and killed by police.

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia sheriff is vowing to continue his law enforcement duties a day after he was charged with reckless conduct in the shooting of a real estate agent. Police say Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill shot the woman in a model home in a subdivision outside his jurisdiction on Sunday. She's in critical condition. Hill calls it a "tragic accident." The investigation is ongoing.

UNDATED (AP) — It's the first time Ebola has been found inside the eyes of a patient months after the virus was gone from his blood. Ian Crozier, an American doctor diagnosed with the virus while working in Sierra Leone, was treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and released in October. Two months later, he returned to Emory, where tests showed Ebola inside the eye.

SALEM, Mass. (AP) — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady says the scandal surrounding his use of deflated footballs during the NFL playoffs hasn't detracted in any way from his Super Bowl title. But Brady is not discussing his thoughts about the NFL's findings that he was at least aware two team employees were breaking rules. He spoke tonight at a Massachusetts college.
