SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) — A Virginia preschool boy got a big surprise when he walked into class to find his dad, an Air Force officer serving in Afghanistan, leading story time via Skype.
WRC-TV (http://bit.ly/1KNElBm) reports 5-year-old Grayson Combs walked into his pre-K classroom at a Springfield Kinder Care Wednesday and found his deployed dad, Air Force Lt. Col. Randy Combs, on the big projector screen. Combs read "The Tail of Peter Rabbit" to his son's preschool class over Skype, a computer video chat application.
Combs is an Air Force Logistics Coordinator in Afghanistan. He is on his fourth deployment and hasn't seen his family since Christmas. His wife, Kelly, helped set up the reading.
Officials say it was a way for the school to incorporate technology into literacy and support its military families.
