TORONTO (AP) — The New York Yankees have put infielder Gregorio Petit on the 15-day disabled list because of a bruised right hand and activated utilityman Jose Pirela from the DL.

Outfielder Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays because of a stiff neck. Chris Young is starting in left field.

Petit was injured when he was hit by a pitch while striking out in the eighth inning Tuesday. Petit stayed in the game in the bottom of the eighth but was replaced by Alex Rodriguez in the ninth. X-rays were negative but Petit was still sore Wednesday.

Pirela sustained a concussion when he collided with the outfield wall during a March 22 spring training game against the New York Mets. He hit .364 with one homer and four RBIs in eight injury rehabilitation games at three minor league levels.
