PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah teenager accused in a 50-mile crime spree that left a deputy dead says she drove the car because her boyfriend threatened her and her family. Meagan Grunwald told a Provo jury today that she stayed out of trouble before the deadly 2014 chase. Prosecutors say that while 27-year-old Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui fired the shots that killed one deputy and injured another, the 18-year-old willingly drove and is equally responsible.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A former Utah State University employee who was fired for accepting gifts says he didn't receive proper ethics training from the university. The Herald Journal reports that the university's former outdoor recreation director Kevin Kobe has filed a lawsuit against the school. He was terminated in 2014 after 25 years at USU.

NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) — Nine months after a landslide destroyed property and displaced families in North Salt Lake, no steps have been taken to prevent another disaster. With the city and developer Sky Properties dodging blame, there is no one to pay the $2 million remediation expense. The city developed a plan and offered to put forward $200,000 for the work. But Sky Properties has not agreed to pay anything.

HILDALE, Utah (AP) — A former police chief in the polygamous community led by Warren Jeffs says he took direction from sect leaders and ignored underage marriages.
