HOUSTON (AP) — The Rockets try to salvage at least one win from the opening two games when they host the Clippers in NBA playoff action tonight. Los Angeles earned the Game 1 win without star guard Chris Paul, who coach Doc Rivers says is 50-50 to play tonight due to a hamstring injury.
CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James says he may have to be more assertive on offense when the Cavaliers host Chicago in Game 2 of their NBA Eastern Conference semifinals. The Cavaliers will be without injured forward Kevin Love and suspended guard J.R. Smith for the second straight game. The Bulls won the opener.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Giants take a five-game winning streak and string of three straight shutouts into their afternoon game against the Padres today. San Diego has been the victim in the last two games and has been held scoreless for 20 consecutive innings.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — It's eight straight wins and counting for the Cardinals, who hope to keep it going when they host the Cubs again tonight. Lance Lynn gets the start with a career 4-1 mark and 1.14 ERA at home against the Cubs. Chicago goes with 1-2 Jon Lester.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Lightning will try to continue their dominance over Montreal tonight and grab a commanding 3-0 lead in their NHL second-round playoff series. Tampa Bay has won all seven games against the Canadiens this season, including the opening two games of the series in Montreal. They've outscored the Canadiens 29-11.
