FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is cracking down on motorists in the LaMoure and Hillsboro areas who create safety problems around school buses.

"Trooper on a Bus" campaigns were scheduled Wednesday in the two areas. Troopers riding on buses will watch for any traffic violations that occur around the buses and radio the information to officers in squad cars who will make traffic stops.

The goal is to increase safety for students.

Failing to stop for a school bus can result in a $100 fine for both the driver and the registered owner of a vehicle.
