ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos continued their offensive line makeover by waiving second-year tackle Paul Cornick, who started three games each at right tackle and tight end last season.
The Broncos also released wide receiver Jeremy Kelley, who signed a futures contract Dec. 29. The Broncos had to make room for the nine college free agents they signed Sunday after completing their nine-player draft.
Among the Broncos' draft picks was second-rounder Ty Sambrailo of Colorado State, who will compete with Michael Schofield and Chris Clark at right tackle. That made Cornick, who missed the last three games last season with a toe injury, expendable.
Cornick (6-foot-6, 310 pounds) played in a dozen games for the Broncos in 2014 after spending parts of the previous two seasons on their practice squad.
General manager John Elway has made retooling his offensive line among his top priorities as he promised 39-year-old quarterback Peyton Manning.
He drafted center-guard Max Garcia from Florida and signed four offensive linemen who went undrafted after trading three-year starting center-guard Manny Ramirez to Detroit on Friday.
The only returning starters on the offensive line are left tackle Ryan Clady and Louis Vasquez, who's returning to right guard after serving as Denver's right tackle over the last half of last season.
