Fontenelle dam holds back the waters of the green river.

To the Crow Indians the Green river was known as the "seeds-ke-dee-agie," Meaning Sage Hen River. To the early Spaniards, it was the "Rio Verde", Which means Green River. The Green has always been an important piece of water ever since man first viewed it's green water nearly seven thousand years ago.
