CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Two National Guard soldiers have been arrested in the U.S. Virgin Islands on charges of theft, wire fraud and making false statements.

The U.S. Justice Department says 45-year-old Lt. Col. Kenneth Alleyne and 37-year-old Staff Sgt. Emmrie Edwards are accused of improperly using government housing funds.

Justice Department officials said in a statement Friday that the two were released on $50,000 bond each.
