SALT LAKE CITY — In the middle of nationwide protest and uproar directed at police, the Salt Lake police have received high marks from citizens.
In a recent survey of Salt Lake City residents, 75 percent of residents said the police force was professional. This was on a survey that went from 1 — not at all professional — to 5 — very professional. The 75 percent was either a 4 or a 5.
The Dan Jones survey talked to 366 registered voters; however most of them hadn’t had face-to-face contact with police in over a year. According to Utahpolicy.com, 37 percent had that face-to-face interaction with officers, which would include traffic stops.
One hundred and eighteen of the people interviewed were white adults. Seventy-three percent of those interviewed gave the police either a four or a five and percent a 1 or 2. Fifty-six percent of Hispanics questioned said that police were professional.
