MAGNA, Utah (AP) — Police are trying to determine if there's a connection between a body found in a suitcase along Interstate 80 and a woman who vanished from Provo April 16. The body was found yesterday in a ravine near the Saltair resort. KSL-TV reports Provo police are working with the Utah Highway patrol to determine if it is the body of Elena Salgado.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah sheriff's deputy who was shot in the head testified yesterday in the trial of a teenager accused of driving her boyfriend during a 50-mile crime spree that left another deputy dead. Utah County Sheriff's Deputy Greg Sherwood testified that when he caught up to Meagan Grunwald and her 27-year-old boyfriend during the January 2014 chase, he was scared and angry because he knew Sgt. Cory Wride had been fatally shot.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State lawmakers recently approved $1.5 million in funding for USU athletics at the request of Senate Budget Chairman Lyle Hillyard. This this is the first time in memory that taxpayer money has been tapped to fund a state university's athletic program — which already generates money from football and men's basketball, student fees and private donations.

TOOELE, Utah (AP) — A transport truck loaded with eight cars rolled on I-80 near Tooele, slowing the morning commute. KSL-TV reports that Utah Highway Patrol says the driver was unfamiliar with the area and may have been traveling too fast when the truck crashed around 4:30 this morning. No serious injuries were reported.
