POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A couple charged with the accidental shooting of a young girl in Chubbuck last year have pleaded not guilty. KIDK-TV reports that Rusty Lish and his wife Ashlee Lish entered the plea yesterday to charges of misdemeanor injury to a child for the death of 5-year-old Noelle Shawver, who was shot by another 5-year-old while visiting the Lishes' home last July.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A wolf that was struck and killed by a vehicle in western Washington this week may provide the first verification that the controversial animals have crossed the Cascade Range. All of the state's known wolf packs are in eastern Washington, where the animals have sparked conflicts with ranchers.

NORDMAN, Idaho (AP) — An elderly couple has been rescued in western Idaho after they attempted to flee their snowbound car on foot without coats. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that rescuers say Don and Sharon Kendrick of Usk, Washington, were trying to drive north of Priest and Upper Priest lakes when their vehicle became stuck in the snow Saturday night. Searchers say the couple told them they don't think they would have survived the night if they had not been found.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The special session of the Legislature called to remedy Idaho's noncompliance with federal child support rules isn't the first time state lawmakers have had to come back to Boise after adjourning. The special session called by the governor will be the first for the state in almost a decade; 27 have been called since Idaho became a state in 1890.
