BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Gov. Butch Otter is calling lawmakers back to Boise for a special session May 18 to address a failed child support bill rejected during the 2015 legislative session. A House panel killed the bill the last day of the session over concerns it could require the state to enforce rulings made in other countries under Islamic law.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Supreme Court upheld the first-degree murder conviction of a Boise man who killed an 8-year-old boy and reported the child missing. The Idaho Statesman reports 42-year-old Daniel Ehrlick Jr. will continue serving two life sentences despite claims in his appeal that jurors were influenced by the prosecution's ability to call him a liar in court.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Efforts to protect the greater sage grouse under the federal Endangered Species Act could hurt training operations at numerous U.S. military facilities in the West. According to a report released this week, protecting the bird would restrict the availability of training lands; restrict the size of training lands and ranges; restrict the use of firing points and impose restrictions on future development and construction.

CODY, Wyo. (AP) — A grizzly bear committee will discuss the possibility of removing the Yellowstone region animals from the endangered species list at a meeting today in Cody. The 23-agency consortium of local, state and federal governments and regional Indian tribes says the Yellowstone grizzlies have recovered.
