Brooke Walker ReportingAs a fire in Draper shows, we've got all the makings of a fiery Fourth of July. Hot temperatures, dry fuel and plenty of lightning and fireworks to start things burning.
The fire is contained, but crews are still on the scene mopping up hot spots. 15-20 acres burned in the fire.
A baseball field with an adjoining playground caught on fire. While it never got too big, there were some intense moments with the fire approaching neighboring houses.
The fire burned right up to two vacant buildings before crews got it under control. Luckily, no structures were damaged.
Capt. Michael White, Unified Fire Authority: "Right now they're in the mop up stages. The fire is controlled and contained at this time. The crews will be working probably another half hour to make sure all the hotspots are out."
Officials believe the fire started in the center of the field. No cause has been named, but fire officials say it's a good reminder to be careful with fireworks this Independence Day.
A small brush fire has burned more than a dozen acres in Utah County this afternoon as well.
The fire burned on BLM property near the city of Eagle Mountain.
No homes were threatened. The cause of the fire is unknown.
