(KSL News) Elissa Wall, who escaped the FLDS group and testified against Warren Jeffs, had her first book signing in Salt Lake tonight.
In the book, "Stolen Innocence," she described her story as a painful journey of forced marriage at age 14 that tells of what her family suffered in the name of religion. She told the group writing was difficult, but she has gratitude for what she has gone through.
"I hope women, and men and children can gain strength and courage from this and realize that they do have the opportunity and the right to be equals and have power of choice and a voice," Wall said.
She says if all of her television and radio interviews help just one girl or one woman say 'no' to abuse, it will have been worth it.
