Randall Jeppesen reportingThe Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be closing some lanes on I-15 in Utah County tonight so crews can inspect a bent bridge beam
The Sam White Bridge, just south of the Land Rover dealership on I-15, took a hit. "Apparently a backhoe hit the bridge last week and bent a bridge beam," explained Scott Thompson, spokesman for UDOT.
Thompson says UDOT will be closing several southbound lanes from 10:00 tonight until 6:00 tomorrow morning so they can check out the structural integrity of the bridge and determine how much it will cost to fix.
But Thompson says driving over the bridge is still safe. "I don't think those of us who drive it even realize it got bent," he said.
UDOT says it will make sure at least one lane is open during the inspection.
