PLUM, Pa. (AP) — Charges that a western Pennsylvania high school teacher had sex with an 18-year-old student have led to an investigation that another teacher had sex with yet another student.

Plum Borough School District Superintendent Timothy Glasspool says 38-year-old Jason Cooper, of Monroeville, has been suspended as a result of being charged with institutional sexual assault and other crimes. Sex between a teacher and an adult student is illegal in Pennsylvania, because the student isn't considered legally able to consent given the student-teacher relationship.

Glasspool says the district became aware of another alleged teacher-student relationship during the course of the Cooper investigation, though it is unrelated to that case. No charges have been filed and it remains under investigation.

Defense attorney Michael DeRiso says he plans "to defend the charges vigorously."
