PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Washington health officials say measles has been confirmed in a Clallam County man in his 50s.
The chief medical officer at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Washington, Dr. Scott Kennedy, said Wednesday that the unidentified man was admitted to the hospital last weekend. The man remains there, although he is no longer infectious.
The source of his exposure to the disease is unknown. Health officials are trying to determine who might have had contact with the man.
State health officials say the Clallam County case is the fourth Washington state person to be confirmed with measles this year.
More than 100 measles cases in multiple states have been linked to people who visited or worked at Disneyland in southern California in December or exposure to infected people who went there.
Two Washington state cases, both in Grays Harbor County, have been tied to the Disneyland outbreak. In addition, a King County baby too young to be vaccinated came down with measles.
