ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Pure Tactics rallied from off the pace to win the $75,000 Clockers' Corner Stakes for older horses by a half-length Sunday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Pure Tactics ran 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:12.28 and paid $14.40, $7.80 and $5.20 at 6-1 odds.
Hay Dude returned $6.20 and $3.60, while Sweet Swap was another neck back in third and paid $3.20 to show.
The victory, worth $46,980, increased Pure Tactic's career earnings to $360,836, with nine wins in 21 starts. It was his second win in five races on the turf course for trainer Doug O'Neill.
