WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Omar Prewitt scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to help William & Mary hold off Northeastern in a 78-62 win Saturday that moved the teams into a first place tie in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Sean Sheldon and Terry Tarpey added 15 points apiece for William & Mary (12-7, 6-2), which shot 53 percent from the floor on 55 attempts and had seven fewer turnovers. Tarpey also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists.

The Tribe opened with a 6-0 burst ignited by Daniel Dixon's 3-pointer and never trailed. But in the second half Northeastern pulled to within a bucket when Quincy Ford hit a jumper to cut it to 47-45 with 12:44 to go. The Tribe responded with a 3 from Marcus Thornton and pulled away.

Ford led Northeastern (14-7, 6-2) with 17 points, while T.J. Williams added 14 and Scott Eatherton 12.
