MAGNA, Utah (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has died after falling through the ice at an outdoor pool in Salt Lake County.

Police say Jacques Bushman died on Thursday afternoon, two days after he fell into the icy waters of the closed pool at the Magna Recreation Center.

The boy had been playing with a friend when he decided to hop the fence of the pool area to use the bathroom.

A few minutes later, a friend heard a loud noise and a scream. He tried to get the boy out of the icy water, but couldn't, so ran home to get his father who called 911.

Paramedics performed CPR for 30 minutes before he was flown to Primary Children's Hospital.

The boy spent 15 to 20 minutes in the water before firefighters arrived.
