John Daley reporting The city manager in one Salt Lake County community has resigned after being charged with voyeurism.

Riverton City officials announced Mark Cram's resignation this morning during a press conference called by the mayor.

The Riverton City Manager is accused of peeking over a tanning salon partition at a 16-year-old girl who was undressing in an adjacent booth. The 50-year-old has been charged with voyeurism and was placed on administrative leave by the City Council a few days ago.

Today, Riverton Mayor Bill Applegarth, flanked by two city council members, announced Cram's resignation.

Bill Applegarth, Mayor of Riverton: "I hope he can overcome this. I hope future employers will look at his skills. And not just a stupid mistake that lasted however many seconds it lasted."

In a letter to the mayor and the council, Cram wrote: "I no longer feel it is appropriate to subject all of you and your families, friends and other innocent people to the constant barrage of negativity...I take complete responsibility for my personal actions."

The charge is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail.

Cram, who has managed the city for about four years, was booked at the Salt Lake County Jail on Saturday and released on his own recognizance.

The Mayor describes Cram as a good man, a pillar of the community and a very good city manager.

Earlier messages on Cram's phone from KSL-TV have not been returned.
