Lance Bandley ReportingA woman was carjacked in Layton while nursing her baby, officers say.
Police received a call about a car being stolen.
"The lady had been feeding her baby inside the car as her family shopped," says Layton Sgt. James Petre.
Petre says the woman and baby stayed in the car; they left the car running for the air conditioner and left the doors unlocked.
"The man got into the car and told her to get out. Basically insinuated that he was going to take the car," says Petre.
Officers say the woman went to grab the car keys, but John Charlton slapped her hand away and told her to get out. An officer later noticed the van on I-15 and arrested Charlton. He now faces a charge of aggravated robbery.
