ESPN.com is reporting Trent Plaisted has signed with agent Mark Bartelstein, thus officially bringing to an end Plaisted's college career. I have contacted BYU sources who indicate they have heard the same thing, but I have not heard from Trent himself.
Word is Trent told teammates weeks ago he was not returning to BYU, and that it was only a matter if time before he signed with an agent.
Trent has been working out in California and is hoping for an invitation to the NBA's pre-draft camp.
BYU would have a scholarship available upon Plaisted's departure, but as of right now, the coaching staff is leaving open the option of saving that scholarhsip, instead of committing it to a player for sake of expediency. In other words, having a grant-in-aid available for a high schooler or JC transfer next year might be more prudent than making a 2-year commitment to a "late" signee this year.
