SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Top Republicans and Democrats in Utah's House and Senate are set to outline their priorities for the upcoming legislative session today. Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, who serves an intermediary between the governor's office and lawmakers, is also scheduled to speak at the event. The legislative session starts Jan. 26 and runs for 45 days.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Senate has unanimously approved Gov. Gary Herbert's nominee to the state liquor board. The Senate yesterday evening voted 24-0 to approve hospital executive Steven Bateman to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. Bateman is the chief executive officer of St. Mark's Hospital.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Ogden police officers found a 3-year-old boy who was sitting in a car stolen outside a Utah day care after he answered his mother's cellphone and honked the horn to draw their attention. Police say the car thief jumped into the car and drove away when she left the car unlocked to drop off another child yesterday morning. Police are looking for a suspect.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) — A coin toss has decided the temporary leader of the Navajo Nation Council. Tribal lawmakers met in a special session yesterday shortly after they were inaugurated to decide who will be the speaker pro tem. Kee Allen Begay and LoRenzo Bates were tied in the voting and Begay won the coin toss.
