SALT LAKE CITY — As 2014 comes to an end, the largest disco ball in the U.S. is being assembled in Utah for the EVE celebration.

The ball measures 20 feet in diameter and turns on a pedestal to allow light from inside to shine through and reflect off the mirrors that cover it.

David Dyer, the artist behind the project, said he was inspired after breaking the Guinness World Record for largest disco ball in the world 12 years ago.

"Nothing like this has ever been made before," Dyer said.

EVE runs Dec. 29 to Dec. 31 at 12 venues. More information can be found by visiting eveslc.com.
