METHUEN, Mass. (AP) — A high school student waiting for a school bus in Methuen has been struck and severely injured by a pickup truck that fled the scene.

Police are looking for what they describe as a "beat up" white pickup with an extended cab that struck the student at about 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Boston Children's Hospital. The student's name was not made public but authorities described him as a boy of about 15.

Police say a school bus was stopped to pick up students when the pickup truck ignored flashing red lights and passed the bus, striking the student.

Anyone with information about the pickup is asked to contact police.
