McNeese State gets by Louisiana-Lafayette 80-70

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Desharick Guidry made 8 of 10 shots and had 29 points with a career-high 16 rebounds to lead McNeese State past Louisiana-Lafayette 80-70 on Saturday night.

Guidry hit 12 of 13 free throws for McNeese State (4-2), who converted 82.8 percent (24 of 29). Jamaya Burr added 14 points, Kevin Hardy 13 and 11 rebounds, and Keelan Garrett added 11.

Shawn Long led Louisiana-Lafayette (3-4) with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Brian Williams added 15 on 7-of-14 shooting and Kasey Shepherd had seven points and seven assists.

Louisiana-Lafayette outshot McNeese State 43.3 percent to 40 percent but only made 9 of 19 free throws. The Ragin' Cajuns were also outrebounded 47-38.

Guidry had 18 points and 12 rebounds at halftime as McNeese State held a 41-31 lead.
